I just wanted to say.... :o)
2 dogs went home today, a cat is going home tomorrow, 4 hamsters went home today,
The Thrift store land lord seems to be motivated to start moving his stuff out, we got some great donations today at RePets, and after all morning in this office I go downstairs to find that my teenager has been cleaning the house!
Thank you Jesus for answered prayers!

Funny what a little blog post and a lot of prayer will do
A few hours after I posted that we cant move to the DB Music spot, I get a voice mail from the Land lord saying that they have secured a storage unit, and at 7am on the 1st they will move things out. Now I have to sit and wait and see if its going to happen... I hope so so this drama will be over and we can get back to rescuing!
Thrift store will not open at DB Music......
I haven't posted about the Thrift Store because its been so confusing, and depressing I just wanted to figure it all out before I confused the public. Its still not settled.... Its not set in stone.... and I am so mad I could bite a nail into, but at the same time I feel pressure, frustration, and depression about this whole situation. I keep asking my self why is this so hard, and wheres the compassion people pretend to have for animals. I bet I hear 100 times a day stories from strangers how much they love their dog, but when I need a little help to save dogs just like the one they love so much..... nothing!!!!
I have had so much trouble trying to get this Thrift store open so I can finance RePets. It costs A LOT of money to care for a few animals. WE HAVE between 50-100 animals at all times that have come from horrible situations and need extra care on top of just their daily expenses. I came up with the idea of the thrift store because I didn't want to ask for so much cash donations for fear we would take away for the Bowling Green shelter and the many needs that they have.
We have found several locations and have come so close to opening when something has gone wrong. AGGHHHHH!!! Several months have gone by and we are not open and losing the sales we could have made which has FORCED US TO STOP RESCUING ANIMALS DUE TO LACK OF FUNDING! This is a really bad time of year because its puppy and kitten season, and our shelter along with all the others that we help, and this time of year they are euthanizing 20-40 animals per day. Its been a horrible experience for me. I am seriously sick about the whole situation and I apologize deeply for all the confusion.
WE ARE STILL LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO OPEN THE THRIFT STORE
We will NOT be opening a Thrift store in the old db music store as we previously advertised. The land lord who allowed us to put the sign up with false hope, still has not moved out the massive amount of piano, ebay and other various items. He was supposed to have it all out by the 1st and to this day hasn't even started as a matter of fact brought into the store a piano and tore it apart so he could restore it. He is saying that the church has been calling every day wondering where their piano is. (hummm wonder why they are confused) He does a lot with ebay, and piano tuning. He gives me his sad story's every time we talk about his family issues and with that, I don't think hes ever going to move that stuff out so we can open. My husband is going to buy a ladder today so we can yank that banner (that we spent more money on) down so the confusion will stop and hopefully no one will show up on the 1st with donations like we advertised.
I am still desperately looking for a space we can afford, is big enough to take all our donations, it has to be in a good location, and one we can move into fast. Right now we have put in offers to land lords, but nothing looks like its going to happen, as the economy is bad and they want a lot of money for their open spaces, or they need to be gutted, and I cant afford to do that right now for a business that has to support its self and RePets.
I hope I don't lose your support or faith in my ability's to run this rescue. I have paid for all the needs of RePets that the donations, or sales in the supply store didn't cover. However in this economy, donations have slowed down, and i have to think about my kids so i must have another source of income as my husband has informed me that we cant keep going at this rate.
I am proud that we have saved over 1600 animals in a year and a half. I'm proud to see all the update and happy tails, and I wouldn't change any of the things I have done for homeless animals. I am still pushing hard to keep RePets open... I just need a little help from animal lovers everywhere!

with my head held low........
Yesterday was a bad day, and today as I try to recover, its really hard to find the strenth to fight. Business is business and charity or compassion for animals is never top priority, and for that I find myself losing RePets.
For almost 3 months I have been jerked around by land lords while tying to get this Thrift store open. Precious time that has cost us money we didn't make, and now lives that I cant save. I needed that store to open, I need that income, because my pockets are empty. Everything that happens, every need that is in that rescue is all on my shoulders and my purse to pay for it. We do get a few donations, but the donations only equal about 2-3% of what it takes to run RePets. The reality is no matter how grateful I am for every penny, even the ones I pick up off the ground, pocket change doesn't pay the bills. I feel so guilty asking for money because I know that takes money from the shelter. So I came up with the idea for the Thrift store, and It seemed to be going so well, however I had 2!!! land lords jerking me around for almost 3 months and now the well is dry.... I cant do this any more, I have no money to continue, I am sick about this and I don't know what to do.
I feel my self slipping into a dark place, because after all I have been thru in my 38 years of life, this is something that made me happy and made me feel like I was somebody, and it didn't matter to me how much it cost. However now that the cost is my family, I can no longer continue because the money is gone. I am not sure how many people will understand this. I am so sorry I let every one down, and I will cry every night for the animals that will suffer because I failed.
I honestly have done everything I can think of to fix this, but the reality is money is tight for everyone right now, and it just cost so much to rescue. I have even sent emails to famous people trying to get help. I have been given so many wonderful ideas from people and I thank you so much for your suggestions, but they are only small amounts of money that take a lot of time to make a small amount of money or cost money to do the fundraiser and there is no guarantee that it will work. I tried selling pet supplies, but you just cant compete with walmart, I tried the thrift store but I cant find a place big enough in our price range, with a land lord that true to his word. I know I have done my best whether its right or wrong for the animals, and I am proud that we have saved a little over 1600 animals in less then 2 years and I am sad for the ones that will suffer from now on.
With my head held low I am still going to look for a place to open the Thrift store. I have in the back of my head what would Job do, on my knees I ask God, what is your will.... I strongly feel that the gifts, talents, and passion for animals that I was given by God himself,is what I am supposed to do. Maybe hes testing me, maybe I am not doing it exactly the way he would like.... I don't know, I am just trying my best to make this happen, an its not looking good.
Due to lack of funding..... We have to put rescuing on hold till money starts coming in again. I am so sorry, and I hope this changes soon... Because .... I just cant close my eyes with out seeing the suffering.

After the holiday weekend..... Time to get back in gear.
Doing a head count this morning, and see that we have 19 dogs, 7 have apps or are paid for and just waiting for pick up or spay/neuter. The BGWC humane society is full as Lorri has informed that they can't help an Animal Control bust close to Louisville, so I'm trying to clean out some cages to make room to help our local shelter. I have 8 dogs in foster homes.... I need to move so dogs today so I can help save others. I HATE THIS TIME OF YEAR!!
I have payroll and fund raiser stuff to work on today and I am crossing my fingers that the guy cleaned his stuff out of the Thrift store so we can move in soon. We are getting so many wonderful donations and no place to put them, not to mention I NEED TO GET THIS OPEN. Money is running very thin, and I need to pay some RePets bills.
Our Supply closet is almost empty. We need food for every one!!! We need all kinds of cleaning supplies!!! We need volunteer's to walk and bathe dogs so they can get adopted quicker and we can help other dogs in need. The needs never stop!
Wishing for a spay/neuter fairy because we cant fix any of our animals for 2 weeks and that means its going to be very stressfull for 2 weeks! I'm so frustrated right now! ~ Lord give me wisdom and patience.
Shopping bags and hangers are our biggest concern right now for opening the thrift store, I'm so nervous about this being successful... I forgot to ask people to bring us their used shopping bags.... WHERE IS MY HEAD??

RePets in my home
With my puggies by my side I am taking a break to share ....
Trying to multi task, cleaning house and finding things to put in the Thrift Store. I find that I have a lot more then I originally thought and I don't have enough boxes to finish.
I have 6 of the RePets dogs in my back yard right now because we are over crowded and we are not geting enough volunteeres. They have all learned to use the doggie door and are having so much fun in our big back yard playing and learning to be social. Its so nice to see how much better their bodies look from when we go them. They look to happy and healthy. When they run and play with the toys you can tell they are smiling and if they could they are laughing. My neighbors must think I'm a crazy dog lady... :o) Just so everyone knows they have a heat/air conditioned room they can come and go in. There is an out side water and inside water bowls. I don't suggest it but with me being on call to any animal in need, running 3 business, being a full time mom to a 21, 15, and 7 year old, and it being ball season, we have automatic feeders so no one goes hungry. Some say they will over eat or thats so bad for them, but they get so much exercise they need the extra calories to keep up with their energy level and I need all the easy outs I can get becasue I have such a busy life style.
We have several dogs that have approved homes but cant go home becasue they are not spayed yet. Our vet is out of town for almost 2 weeks and this is causing us to basicly be on hold for 2 week rescuing dogs! its a really bad situation but we are doing the best we can. I just hate that they cant just go home. These familes are so excited and really want to be in there forever homes. I pray this time will fly.

I must vent so I can fake a smile to the
You wanna know what chaps my hide? People that think the world revolves around them! I know not everyone knows what goes on behind that scenes at a shelter or rescue, but everyone knows manners and common sense. I hate when people waste our time. We have so much to do, and so little money to do it. So when you come in and waste 3 hours of payroll, talking to us about what a get owner you are to finely fill out an application. Then someone checks your references, and after we call long distance to approve you, set up a time for you to pick up your dog, pay someone to drive to the foster home to get the dog, THEN you never show and wont answer when we call to see if your still coming. We wait and pay someone an extra hour to sit at the adoption center to wait for you to show. When you don't show up someone has to drive the poor baby back to her foster home. The next day you have the nerve to call and ask if we can hold the dog for 2 weeks while you THINK about if you will get her, because you haven't told your husband yet..... AGGGHHHHH all I can say is every cage that we hold is an animal that dies in a shelter, NO WE DON'T HOLD ANIMALS and I'm sorry if you don't get it.
With that off my chest, I don't mean to complain, I'm just under a lot of stress trying to help as many as we can durning the puppy/kitten season and its just not fair when people act this way, because it happens a lot!
Next post will be positive!

Sad... the van is broke down again... bad timeing
We have hit a speed bump that we cant cross right now. I was told our Rescue van is dead. it wont turn over. we just spent over $500 last month fixing things, and now more things have happen. this is so discouraging, because this means if a puppy mill bust happens, we cant go, it a shelter calls, we cant go, when people donate large items for the Thrift store we can't haul it. I am so sad right now, and feel like someone knocked me down in to a well, just when we were starting to see the light.
I feel the need to put a hold on rescues but my heart is crying so hard I cant bring myself to do it. I just don't know how much more stress and pressure I can physically take. I really need this thrift store to do well so money wont get in the way of saving lives.

We were on TV today!
I got a report that before we open today someone had set several items for the thrift store outside of RePets. :o) I love that people are supporting this, lots of animals can be saved with the items that were left today!
We Got the banner put up at the Thrift store. It took 4.5 hours in the hot sun, because its so big, but its up. Big THANKS to Outer Loop for donating the banner to help save lives!
Which reminds me I have to put a coming soon sign up so people passing by know what's going on.
I was so happy WBKO came out and did a story on us because any exposure the animals can get it good for them. I hope I did the animals justice. I talked about what our Thrift store would do, RePets, and our local shelter. I wasn't nervous, I think its because I really need this to work so RePets will survive. I felt good about what I said and can't wait to see it on TV tonight.
After it picked up the kids from school, I stopped in at RePets. I was super excited to hear that Cassie a shih ztu gets to go home today and Zena a boxer we got in yesterday gets to go home after she recovers from her cold and is spayed.
The kitten cages are looking thin from all the adoptions and we have an open spot for a adult cat! I love to go to the shelter and rescue cats because this time of year, is hard on the adult cats because they have to compete with all the cute kittens. Luckily we have cat adoptions for $25 so they seem to be moving pretty good.
The nightly report says we have 6 applications to review tomorrow! I hope some long timers get to go home. One of our guinea pigs found a home this evening, I know she will be much happier then wondering around in a public park!
Well I need to get to work on pet finder plus the news will be on soon so and I want to see how the piece turned out.
Paws crossed tommorrow will be just as productive as today.

Yesterday and plans for today!
Yesterdays Priority's keep me from blogging. I had to take fresh pictures of all our adoptable dogs for pet finder. Adoptions are slow, so I was thinking I need to focus on them to see if we can spark some new interest. Its hard to get good "adopt me" pictures from wiggly puppy's so it took a long time to get perfect pics, but I stuck with it and I got the shots!
I pulled some dandy lions, and tall grass for the Guinea pigs and Rabbits. If you have ever heard an excited guinea pig it sound like a wee wee at a really high pitch. Cute and good for a smile and the warm and fuzzys when they stand up in the cage and take a leaf from you. The bunny's run around the cage and thump when they see they are getting a special treat. I love the little critters!!
We had a kitten to go home yesterday and we had several family's come and walk dogs to see if they would fit in their family's. We are excited to see if they come back today.
Several Volunteer es came to RePets to walk dogs, That always makes me smile to know the dogs get to go for extra walks and to see the love our community has for shelter dogs. It was a beautiful day and there was a lot of happiness happening in the yard behind RePets.
I went to Outer Loop and worked on the banner for the Thrift store. We were there till midnight but its done and ready to hang today! We were so tired we forgot to close the gate to the store. Todd had to go back, I went home to get the mall dirt off me from crawling around on the mall floor in shorts. The Banner is 20ft x 4ft. I am very confident that our message to help homeless animals will be seen by everyone that passes and possibly by the astronauts on the moon.
I called WBKO and they said they think they would come out and do a story on the Thrift Store So we are very excited about the exposure for the animals. I wanted to take Madeline to be on TV as she needs the most help to recover. But after taking her to the grass for pictures, she was still coughing so bad, I fear she needs to stay in bed to continue recovering.
After school today, I have a group of kids that have volunteered to hand out flyers today to business that use hangers. Yes I am still freaking out because we don't have hangers!
Lots of stuff to do today, and its Friday so hoping we will have lots of adoptions, donations and sales at RePets today.

Busy day!
Wow what a busy day at RePets and Outer Loop.
RePets had 5 adoptions today!!! Thats 5 spots open to save 5 more!!!!
PLUS we got 6 applications to review in the morning!!!
Today I sent a volunteer went to meet a lady that rescued a Pug mix off a euthanasia list at a very far away shelter. While Dena was there I asked her to check in on a area shelter and make sure things are going smooth. She texted me that there was a BIG Boxer boy there and they were out of room for large dogs. Everyone knows that boxers, Pugs, Bostons, Bull Dogs and Frenchies are my favs so we grabbed him up! Thanks to Dena for driving 2.5 hours after work to save 2 precious lives and big thanks to the girls who helped at RePets today to get these sweet babies adopted!
Lots of new and exciting things happening at RePets and you don't want to miss it, so Please keep an eye on our web site! www.RePets.biz

THE BIG MOVE
Everyone is asking where we are moving to and to be honest right now its in Gods hands. The location we are in now was never meant to be permanent, and I had no idea our concept would be so well received. After rescuing over 1600 animals in less then 2 years, I find myself stressing to find a new location for RePets. My dream of have a pet shop has been fulfilled. My desire to rescue animals has become a passion and a found talent I didn't know I had. Now I must dream bigger in order to keep up with how fast RePets is growing. My new dream is to purchase a "RePets HUB" in Bowling Green because our community has proven to be very supportive of animal shelters and rescues. This hub will be our intake fasility. We will continue to rescue good animals from shelters that are about to be euthanized and after they are prepared for adoption, we will transport them to our "Mini RePets" that we will open in smaller towns. This should help smaller community's with animal spay/neuter education, adoptions, and awareness. Cross your Fingers and Paws that this dream will also become a reality.
Anything we do is going to cost money and we only have till February to find a place to move, remodel, and settle in. This is very scary, and I have the weight of those animals future on my shoulders. After heavy thought and a lot of prayers, I was blessed with some wisdom. It came to me that people want to help, they hate that animals are in shelters and they want to do something about it, but money is tight for everyone these days so its only logical that we open a Thrift store benefiting RePets. this way our community can still help with our rescue efforts and it not cost a lot of money to do it. Every one has junk laying around they don't want, and it feels good to help a charity, so how cool is it that people can donate the stuff they don't want any more and save shelter animals at the same time costing them NO MONEY! Plus look what we are offering the community. A place to by good at a fraction of the cost and again saving shelter animals at the same time!
Our plan is to rent the old D&B Music store and turn it in to the Thrift Store benefiting RePets Animal Rescue. With the money made at the Thrift store we can save for a down payment to purchase a building. This will give us the freedom to rescue with out land lord restrictions.
Plan B if we are unable to raise the down payment or we are unable to find a place to purchase, then we will move the Thrift store in February and move RePets to the D&B spot till we find a place to purchase. Its a lot of work and we will need a lot of help, but its all worth it for the homeless animals. There is nothing more rewarding then seeing a happy tail leaving our adoption center with its new parents then getting a update Email telling us how happy they are.

RePets Animal Rescue,
the big move
Begining the RePets Blog!
I am so excited that I have a place to clear my head and let people see what happens behind the scenes, so they can see what truly happens at RePets Animal Rescue. RePets is an emotional roller coaster and I need a place to vent and a place for support. Some days make me dance, and others make me not want to get out of bed.
There is a million things going thur my head I want to Write about, BUT i have to go to Outer Loop and Pierce today so I can only make a list of the things I want to talk about, and then blog between customers. HUMMM.... This is going to be great!
Note to self...
Write about these things so everyone can keep up with our fast pace....
**Thrift store coming soon!
**Our desperate hanger need
**Doggie over load
**Who needs the swine flu when you have kennel cough?
**ADOPTIONS!!!!
**Economy effecting shelters
**Puppy mill bust from March 17 STILL waiting for release
**Puppy/Kitten season flooding our shelters
**Had 2 great Humane society tours with some students from Moss Middle school
**Noticed the supply closet is empty at the shelter and at RePets
**The hunt for a place for RePets to go has ended, we have a safety net!
**The people that try to hurt our rescue efforts & the people that just don't understand what rescue is.
** Happy emails with pictures from adopters
** My AWESOME STAFF
**Volunteeres
** Why we have so many piggys
So much more so little time......
