A very exciting thing happen yesterday. We were called to take a boxer that this lady found back in December. She asked us to take him because shes been looking for the owner and since it looks like they wouldn't come forward, she wanted us to help her find a home for him. While doing the intake exam, Chelsea discovered the dog had a Microchip. We were discouraged at first because the number was disconnected, but Chelsea did some digging and found the owners sister!! The lady was so excited to hear the dog was safe, and she said her brother will be so excited! Now that seems like the happy part of the story, and yes I was super stoked that we found the original home for the dog, and a family will stop worrying about their dog, and the dog will go back to its home so we can rescues another dog. But I was the most excited that the very responsible pet owners had not only micro chipped the dog, but they NEUTERED him meaning that the 6 months the dog has ran lose, he DID NOT make puppies!!!!! Lesson to learn from this.... Spay/neuter ~ tag your pets~ microchip your pets~ and if you change your number call your micro chipping company so they can have your updated info!
We have lots of yappy dogs right now, so the staff is really stressed at RePets. I don't know what to do for them, because they are just not getting adopted whither its the economy or just the breed, its so not fair, for us or the dogs.... I pray that they will find homes soon, and that they will be quiet today.
Summer is here and we are seeing lots of kids helping at RePets.... It makes me so happy to see them working at RePets, walking dogs, cleaning cages, and sweeping the floor..... One of those kids fell in love and even ADOPTED!!! My heart is full, Thank you to all my Volunteer's for being so awesome!!!
With the Thrift store about to open, and several of my staff moving on to new jobs, we are going to start the interview process. SO if your looking for a Job, and your the kind of person that works hard, understands animals, has the patients to work with traumatized animals, then please apply because we need a team that will stick with the animals thru the good and the bad! you can apply on line at www.RePets.biz
Last night I went to the DB music space to see how much he still had to move because we were supposed to have taken over at noon yesterday... remember every time I talk to him its just a few more days.... Todd and I took pictures last night, 9 hours after he said he would be out. So frustrating... I know I could move to the bigger location, but its only in a fair location, and its SOOO much more money.... We need that space but not till February and I am so scared to move now because of the cost, but I'm also afraid of losing it! Then I get angry at the slow poke and I just want to leap so I will at least have something!! ~ still not sure why this is so hard!
